Technology keeps expanding and evolving every day and this world experiences innovations and growth with every passing day. Everyone is tech-oriented these days, especially the new generation that comprises GenZ and Millennials. The beginning of the fourth industrial revolution has huge impacts on various sectors, but it has changed the education domain to a huge extent, and with the outbreak of the coronavirus things became tech-savvy in the education sector.

To attract and engage students is a tough job in this era, teachers have to be technologically advanced and have to adopt the ways which students prefer to like. They have to update themselves and understand the latest trends and challenges, only then they will be able to create a good learning environment.

1. Technological Advancements

Technology affected how the education sector used to work earlier. The Internet has been a complete turner in the ways education was accessed earlier. People not only gather information from it but also arrange themselves a class. Distance learning opportunities have been emerging since 2010 with a high rate of growth. And the times of Covid and lockdown have given distance learning a boom.

Most of the schools and colleges have gone online, daily classes, lectures, and even exams are being conducted online. With the expansion of technology, there have been several ways and tools available for students to get high-quality education using the internet.

This trend has both benefits and drawbacks. Students will have access to various materials but they will not get the benefit of classroom learning. They will lack the chance to engage physically with their classmates and will not be able to learn soft skills via technology.

It might appear exigent for the teachers as well because it is difficult to engage students in an online platform as compared to a physical classroom. It also offers various chances for teachers to have a uniform schedule. Students can access live or recorded lectures later. Enthusiastic students may go deeper into the field of interest with the use of various tools available nowadays.

There are various tracking systems designed with the help of Artificial Intelligence that helps teachers to track the previous records of the students. Chatbots are being used for interactions and doubt solving. AI helps to design a customized learning facility for a student.

2. Training of Practical Knowledge

Competition has been rising in every field, and whenever a student wants to get a job, there are some must skills companies throw limelight to, that is creativity, problem-solving, time management, and thinking capabilities. Companies want to hire an individual who possesses these skills and has good leadership abilities.

To prepare students for these future endeavors, education institutions must provide proper guidance and training to them.

But as we discussed already, online engagement creates a challenge for teachers to solve this problem. They have to find a way in which they can convince students to have a balance between online screen time and the importance of cultivating these skills.

The institutions that will be successful in encouraging their students and encouraging them will have all these skills, will lead the race as they will have more employed students and their success rates will also increase.

3. Shrinking Attention

We are being surrounded by technology in every other means, and from the data collected by several reports, it is being identified that the average span of a student has reduced tremendously over the last decade. We can distinguish the time spans with a different generation, GenX and boomers used to have a good and attentive time compared to millennials who have grown up in the technological era, and further if we move to GenZ, they are least attentive.

To attract Millenials and GenZ, the content being presented to them must be highly visual and must have attractive dialogues and storylines to hold them. They are more inclined to the visual mode compared to any other generation.

Teachers have to design lectures so that they appear engaging to students to grab their interest, they must use a proper delivery method and must understand the importance of visual content and right delivery. The fact that they have access to the internet and can find more engaging content on various platforms should not be taken lightly. The teachers who will find new ways to teach in this era will be more successful and noteworthy.

4. Understand the difference between learning and teaching

Students today have hands-on lot more information than what they are being taught, and it is not just sufficient to provide them with the information, and they don’t even value it. Instead, teachers have to help students in the way they learn, they have to make them understand the importance of classrooms. Teachers have to build an environment that comprises values and teamwork.

In some more years, teachers have to completely rely on Gamification and Virtual Reality to attract students, GenZ students will love to learn in this way. 3D designs and games attract them heavily and soon many educational institutions will shift in this way to provide skilled learning to the students.

Knowledge delivery is not enough, teachers have to work on the overall development of a student by adopting new technology and trying to understand their mindset.

5. Learning is a persisting process

People are generally having the mentality that after getting a good job we don’t have to study much and the knowledge we retained will last life-long. Gone are the days when such mentality flourishes, in the world of new advancements, new trends coming up every day one has to cope and understand them to sustain himself peacefully.

Knowledge has no end, you have to keep learning even while having a job, otherwise someone with new skills will overtake you. Educational bodies must try to incorporate a self-study environment among their students so that they can easily adapt to future skills on their own.

Conclusion

There is competition in every domain, and one has to adapt all the above-mentioned skills to lead the race. It is very important to shape education in the way the new generation likes to retain it. All the educational bodies who come with these measures and enhance practical learning measures in their environment will be successful in the coming years. It is highly recommended to make students aware of the challenges and the importance of soft-skills, leadership qualities among them. Every student from their generation might be knowing how to use technology, but most of them will lack various qualities that the educational body helps them to achieve. The new education policy will be one of the latest trends the education sector is going to face in the coming years. It will create new opportunities and ways in the field and will enhance the overall structure of education.
